Terry:The concept of 'the good old days' has been
around for thousands of years. If it makes you feel better (read 'right' in your
assessment of society now vs BC10,000-AD2004) then hold onto it. If however, you
wish to check out what real history reflects regarding the moral conduct of
humankind then, be prepared for a surprise.
It WAS ever thus. It IS thus. It WILL BE thus.
Humanity is no more 'fallen' now than at any time in human history. How could it
be? There are no variations on 'fallen' (a little, a lot, more, less). We've
expressed it (fallenness) in the same ways in each era.

Once more Lance, get your head out of the sand. You are
lying to yourself. Abortion has always been murder. Murder has
always been a crime. Homosexuality has been a perversion since Sodom and
Gomorrah. Sodomy is not a lifestyle. It is a filthy disgusting
sin. God says so. I just gave you those two examples to show
you the idiocy of your statement. We also had God in the schools as well
as the churches. We recited the Lord's prayer to start the school
day. Christian leaders were invited to speak in our schools.
Parents decided what was best for their children. Now the child can get
an abortion without the parent ever being told. The teachers arrange it.
Fifty years ago a woman could walk anywhere she wanted to, unescorted, without
worrying about being a crime victim. Now most women avoid walking
anywhere unless they are escorted or in groups. Every state at one time had
one prison. California now has at least thirty, and is
constantly building more. Yeah, we've improved a lot. Bill
Clinton was a greater president than George Washington. Both were the
people's choice at the time. That alone should tell you how much
improved we
are. Terry ============================================================================== Lance

Terry asks why I'd say such a thing..Way before
you were young abortion wasn't a crime and, homosexuality wasn't a
perversion. It'd appear that the 'sand' houses your 'head'. Just scan
history.
Every century has had 'events' that
precipitated these kinds of observations. It is likely that your (great,
great, great) grandchildren will be making the same kinds of observations in
a different cultural context.

Why would you say such a thing? Do yo have your head
in the sand? When I was young, abortion was a crime, Homosexuals
were perverts. Only a murderer or a pervert would consider the
present to be an improvement over the past. Terry

Things are not getting 'worse'. There is no
greater 'falling away' than at any time in the past. In fact, the
opposite is probably true as to both.

I have
tried all the above, as have others, but it don't get better, it gets worse, just as the Word promises. I
believe that the great falling away is
here. It is possible that my grandchildren may be the
last generation of free Americans. It is also possible that they
may be the last generation, period. Some day the Father is going
to turn to the Son and say,"Go get 'em, Boy". No one knows that
time, but it is closer every day.

I see it this way also
Terry and there is so much more going on than meets the eye.
Jesus said we shouldn't judge by outward appearance. (John 7:24;
2 Corinthians 5:12).
In the US we have recently
gone through a week of mourning with daily accolades about
the greatness of the late 40th President Ronald Reagan.
Evveryone, including his own children spoke so well of him and the
Marine Band played my favorite hymns at the sunset service in
California when they layed him to rest. Was this real or
was it Hollywood? I have been reading about the Reagans and have
seldom seen such a mass of contradictions. For instance, they both
looked to astrologers, he from before the marriage and she came
to depend upon them later. In fact this was one expense that
Nancy Reagan paid out of pocket while they were at the White House
where most everything was a perk and free (including her clothes and
her travelling hair dresser). He did not attend Church, he would
say that his ranch in California was a cathedral with vaults going
into the sky. He loved a joke and his humor in private was said to
be ribald. The Reagans were estranged from at least
two of their children for years at a time and family relationships
were nonexistent at least until the end when things did appear to
come together. What Ronald Reagan was the master of is communication. He
understood oratory and the use of humor, the pregnant pause
etc. I'm sure he was well-meaning but a follower of
Christ?? Why is the professing Church so easily impressed and
where is discernment? .
