Why is the symbolism greater than the physical? To follow this logic, then the Statue of Liberty (the “symbol” of liberty) is far more important than the liberty itself. Surely you don’t think this is true!!?   -- slade I was referring to physical cleanliness, but the symbolism is also a big factor. Izzy DAVEH:  I had thought it was a bigger factor than physical cleanliness.  But, I suppose staying clean might have been a lot harder then than now!
