I agree. Rome needed to give the thumbs up on executions. An "internal" trial was used by the Sanhedrin before execution candidates were brought before Rome. I didn't think every detail was necessary. However, I only partially agree with your P&S. The Sadducees, yes, but not all Pharisees. [Some] Shammai-branch, yes. Remember, according to NT record, PHARISEES warned Yeshua of his impending execution!
