To your way of thinking, Slade, do you think that Paul, prior to his conversion, was influenced by Shammai in spite of being a studet of Gamaliel.   I mean, Gamaliel was in favor of allowing God to deal with the "problem" of this emerging Faith while the House of Shammai would not honor that reason?
