No kidding.   That is my point Judy.   He is considered a man of faith.   You need to read the account of Samson's death.   Do you think this is the first time I have brought this point up in a discussion.   It usually gets axed  --  until, of course,  the critic actually reads the biblical account.    Samsons' death was suicidal and for no  other reason than revenge.   My point being this  ----------   there was a deep and bidding faith in God beneath that coarse exterior that God recognized as faith.  
jt: I have read the account of Samson's death and I don't see any revenge/suicide involved in it.  What I do see is godly repentance - for Samson cried out to God to anoint him one last time - Yes he knew he would die with his enemies but without the empowerment that could come only from God this would never have happened.  You have made God complicit in suicide and revenge along with Samson.
 
Faith and unbelief/fear are not compatible; they cause the person to be double minded and a double minded man receives "nothing' from the Lord.
