I'm extremely thankful that I was not born
in the 16th century and that we have freedom of _expression_ in our generation in
this country. However, without spiritual discernment all of these blessings can
become more of a curse. Our daughter and her husband played The Passion
of the Christ video for their two oldest children last night to see the New
Year in. The grandchildren are 8 and 9yrs old. The boy says he likes
violence [because the kids he runs with at their Christian school are all into
this Pokemon Japanese animation that is full of it]. However, the 9yr old
couldn't handle the slow motion violence and they had to turn it off with her
in tears. I understand they are well meaning but the whole thing saddens
me because IMO the movie has little to do with the reality - [much of the
screenplay being gleaned from some mystic nuns] and my belief is that God
didn't leave us with a physical 'image' of Himself for a good reason.
