What about on those occasions when you and I have disagreed, Izzy?

That really is it, isn't it, Izzy? Your theology has now forced you into the position of having to imply that the "real" Christians do agree with you, and that the rest of us who call ourselves Christian but do not see things the way you do, are not really hearing the Shepherd's voice. Tell me, Izzy, how big is the fold, and how do you know you are in it?

Suppose I tell you I am a prophet, Izzy; I've had a visitation from a man or an angel, I don't know for sure, but he told me I am a prophet of God, and a couple of my brothers have confirmed this truth. Suppose I say now that I have received teaching from God on this matter and that your "insight," which you thought had come to you by the Holy Spirit, was actually a word from demons: your "shepherd" is a frog. Would you believe me now, that I have a God's-eye view on your supposed "truth"?

Yes on all three accounts, Izzy. But is this really what we are talking about, or maybe better put, is this all that we are talking about? No, thats not all at all.  What happens when you take that new and exciting insight to church with you and when you share it with other Christians, Christians whom you love and respect very much, some or many of them tell you that you are in error, that your reading is antithetical to Scripture? When they tell you this, does it make you wrong and them right? Do you immeditely abandon your new insight? Its never happenedI guess Ive been hearing His voice, as He promised. J

Why can't Christians seem to see things the same if we are all indwelt with this mind-of-Christ-in-us capability? We do!

The truth is, I want to be right and to know the will of God and to have the mind of Christ on matters of truth; in fact, I think I do have these things, or I would not say or write a single word, because I don't want to be wrong and impervious to the will of God and the mind of Christ.

AND the truth is, I believe you desire and believe these same things for and about yourself.

My point is, Izzy, I am willing to say this about you and trust that it is true -- which then restricts my ability to claim a God's-eye view on matters on and about which we disagree. I may think I am right and you wrong, but I am reluctant to declare my thoughts from on high, as if I were speaking with the voice of God. Are you willing to do the same for me and others with whom you disagree? Or do you still claim for yourself and hold to this God's-eye view on reality?  Only prophets declare from on high.  I have not had many prophecies for the Body, as I do not have the office of prophet.  Apparently, neither do you.  Izzy
