Unknown to me at the time, it was on the exact same street where Billy Graham started. I also was arrested for preaching on this same street in Tampa. Later I found a plaque saying that Billy Graham started his preaching there. John wrote: > The fact of the matter is this --- street screaming > is the easy way out. You characterization of "preaching" being "screaming" makes it difficult to respond, but let me just say that I have always found street preaching much more difficult to do than discipling others. In discipling others, I am received and appreciated. It is a joy to teach God's Word to those who eat it up and love it and appreciate it. Preaching, on the other hand, puts one in a very uncomfortable place. There are many unknown hazards, from police problems to verbal and physical abuse. Nobody likes rejection and it takes an enormous amount of grace from God to do this thing. I meet with a group of men every Tuesday morning at 6:30 am. I look forward to this time of fellowship and discipleship. I call some of the men during the week and they call me. Discipleship like this is wonderful. At least once a month, sometimes more, I host a home church meeting in my home. Again, it is a joy. I look forward to it. Discipleship is the necessary follow up to preaching. It should not replace preaching. Hypocrite Christianity has simply dropped public preaching and kept discipleship. Peace be with you.
