I was thinking of "metanoia" which means to change one's mind. This word is translated as "repent" in our bibles.

It's the same concept in Exodus 32:14 "And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people." KJV [NIV version is "Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened."]

Everything that Judas did after betraying Jesus showed he changed his mind. Therefore, I say he repented (like God did in Exodus) but I know some people would say he did not and could not.

Love,

Caroline

Caroline, is suicide, such as hanging oneself, a sin? Can one repent of sin after one is dead? If you answered "yes', then 'no' to these questions, then how did Judas repent by hanging himself?

Terry:
Sorry mamn, but the above is wrong. Judas realized he was wrong, but he never repented. Lots of people know when they are doing wrong and enjoy it. True repentance comes from a contrite heart and results in turning from sin to God.

Caroline:
Judas realized he had betrayed an innocent man and he was "seized with remorse". He returned the 30 pieces of silver and he hung himself. But I guess that won't count as repentance with some people.
