This part is not a mystery...he both WAS God and was WITH God, a situation that only the Trinitarian model resolves. I know this boggles the finite mind, but go with what the text says instead of trying to map it to something that contradicts the text.

If the Word (Jesus prior to the incarnation) WAS God, then He was not a SEPARATE God! It does not say "was another god, was also a god, or was god's offspring created by god...read the textcarefully! He was (and IS) God!

If the Word was WITH god, then the Father and the Word co-existed from the beginning. No spiritual wife, no act of procreation with a spiritual wife, no spirit baby offspring. Stick with the text, Dave.

Ponder this:

The Jesus of the bible is God incarnate...not another or different god. (See John 1:1..."was with God and was God")

DAVEH: Have you ever pondered why Jesus (as God) *was* */with /God, *Perry??? LDS theology understands this literally without making it into a paradoxical mystery.
