I don't find any accusation of fellowship with sinners in this passage.
Eating and reclining with sinners is fellowship.

 The
question is posed why he eats with sinners. Fellowship implies a sharing of
common interests and goals. Jesus says he was not having fellowship with
them. He was eating with them to call them to repentance. Surely you
understand this difference.
I just spent the entire day with my son -- teaching him what he does not know
but what he has need to know .......... I call this fellowship.

Matthew 9:13
"... for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
His purpose in fellowshipping with sinners is clearly stated. I agree. But, and this is my point,
he did not use drive by techniques that kept Him isolated and, thus, "untainted," from the "world."
rather, it was out of a continuing feelowship with these people that he made many of His disciples.

Peace be with you.
