JD: You believe in an angry God.   I believe in an angry Father.  Big difference.   But more to the point, Romans 8:1 presents to us a  deliverance from "condemnation."

jt: God is not anyone's Father until they have been born of the Spirit or born again and are found in Christ the Son; Romans 8:1 only promises deliverance to those who "walk after the Spirit" and do not fulfill the lust of the flesh (KJV)

JD: EVERY  GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT is from the Father ....  James 1:17.
Be ye perfect even as your Heavenly Father ...   ( Matt 7:1)   God is the Father of us all.

jt: Do you include yourself with God's covenant ppl Israel? (Matt 7:1) is spoken to them and God called Israel His Son.

JD: No one in His audience had been "born again."

jt: So? Jesus spoke this before the covenant was in His blood. During His earthly ministry Israel was God's Son.  James is written to the Church or called out ones. Born again believers.

JD: I believe that EVERy GOOD THING is from God  -  apparently you disagree.

jt: What would cause you to surmise that JD, I believe James 1:17

JD: Do you believe in the indwelling Spirit and the continuing work He does in our lives?  I do.

jt: Of course I believe we have been sent the Spirit of Promise who leads us into all truth among other things
I am surprised you would ask such a question.

JD: I do not believe in original sin.  That God made all of us (through procreation or whatever) in His image is my point.   See Gen 9:6.

jt: Your point is wrong then; God made the first Adam in his image but Adam fell and took on a different image. This is the image the men who were destroyed in the flood directly before Noah's incident with the vineyard, drunkenness and incest took place.  Now JD are you going to tell me that this is the image of God acting out here?

Gen 9:6 makes it clear that all of mankind is made "in the image of God."   You make a difference between how this phrase is used in 9:6 and 1:27.   In fact, both passages are talking about the same image and make the same statement   -  mankind, male and female, are created in the image of God.

jt: Yes JD but where is your head? - God is Spirit.  If mankind was still "in the image of God" - why did God repent for having made him in Genesis 6:3 and decide to wipe him out except for one family in Genesis 6:7.

JD: You can pitch 9:6 in whatever theology you prefer  --  the fact as I see is this:   the shedding of human blood is wrong and the notion that we have been created in God's image plays a role in that argument.   That is the thrust of 9:6, IMO).

JD: When you said " a church full of them would not be a good thing,"  what did you mean to say?

jt: I meant to say exactly that because it would mean that this church is proud and not dealing with sin in it's midst.

JD: Your statement, as worded, is telling that the church should not have any of these "damned sinners" in it (a true church) does not have any.   Is that correct?

jt: No that would not be correct JD; there are bound to be a few unbelievers and some fallen believers in any
group - however the Church is for saints.
