Our conscience can by no means be relied upon
to reveal good and evil. If it could, we would all
have identical consciences, but conscience varies
from person to person and from society to society
in space and time. It is a social construct.

The conscience is not entirely a social construct. Society and behavior
modifies and influences the conscience, and they may even completely deaden
the conscience, but at its core, the conscience contains the lamp of God.

Peace be with you.
