Your comparison of "critical thinking" to "critical people" pretty much proves my point. Additionally, imy comments were not intended as an insult. You are not a critical thinker, Linda. Heck, you get irritated when you have to look up a passage rather than our quoting it for you in our posts!!! There is nothing wrong with your mind ................ but you are not of the critical thinking bent. Judy, on the other hand, is of that nature. She just doesn't have any rules to guide her in her studies. I am slow when it comes to "critical think," and sometimes suffer from lack of experience ( at least.)

Exactly. That IS the problem with scripture for some with accepting it on face value instead of using "critical thinking". (Why do the most critical people push that concept???) iz

The big problem with the Bible is that it does not always say what you want it to say, therefore it is not totally reliable. If you start trying to go strictly according to the book, then you have no latitude to see Jesus as you would like Him to be.

First, the Bible contains the Word of God . Secondly, Jesus and the Bible are two very different things. Let's not make an idol of the Book. It is what it is -- but it is not something to be worshipped, Christ is.

I believe the written Word as scripture is just one form of THE WORD of God.
It cannot be brushed aside as less than that IMO. izzy

Jesus is the Word but Jesus is not the TEXT. Scripture is a subset of the
Word. The script can be considered secondary to the Logos himself because
the world is not big enough to contain all the texts that could be written
about Him. None of this is meant to undermine the authority of Scripture.
Peace be with you.
