i just saw your commits. much better. one thing though is that in our
current application that we are developing for CI, in each method we have a
connection to the database and we don't make it class instance based. in
other words, the DBBroker is in each method. hopefully, frank can give more
details as to why we did it that way (probably so that we could make the
methods static).
