That is bullshit. If you start on something, don't just quit working on it
and start something else and leave a whole bunch of code dead. This is OS
and you can continue working on multiple projects at the same time, but
quitting one, leaving it undocumented and going to work on something else
really puts a negative mark on a developer in my mind.
There should be a ranking system like eBay has...if the seller isn't
responsive to the buyer, then the buyer can make a public remark about the
seller. Future projects can then decide if they want to accept products
from the seller based on how well they were able to complete their
requirements. This is part of what Sourcexchange.com is about.
As the project leader for this project, it really isn't my job to clean up
other people's messes. Sorry. I would rather just remove OPaL from CVS and
forget it before I'm going to go back and document/fix/finish someone
elses mess because as it stands right now, OPaL makes a negative impact on
Turbine as a whole project because it is this large chunk of completely
undocumented and unfinished code that was given a decent level of
visibility within the project in order to motivate the success of that
portion, yet George isn't willing to finish it any more. As a result, I'm
less motivated to accept new code from George until OPaL is done.
