The problem most likely comes from your existing CVS repository. Change to your
local code directory and type 'cvs login' and check if it really says "logging
in to [EMAIL PROTECTED]", if xxx != your username, you have to edit
/path/to/your/local/cvs/repository/cvs/Root and change the login name there, or
even better (if you don't have own code in there), delete the repository and do
a full new check-out.

Often, people set $CVSROOT to the new login id, but forget that cvs stores the
original login name in cvs/Root. It does this for convinience, so you don't have
to set up $CVSROOT every time you want to update your local codebase.
