If nobody undertakes the work of putting "hooks" in
Turbine, it's tons of work to use something else. But
OPL already has tools 1. to generate maps from a
database, 2. to generate DDL from maps, and 3. to
generate classes from maps. I made the first much
more general since my last posting to you.
Also, the mapping layer is a better way of dealing
with the portability issues. For example, compare
the OPL or Castor method of configuring key generation
with the Peer model.

I probably won't put it in Turbine. I want it to be
available to folks who don't use Turbine. The
advantages of the mapping layer are more apparent in
systems which have more tables and more relations than
the typical servlet app.
Also, as I've provided nearly all of the coding work
(well, I have borrowed some stuff from cocoon and
castor and I'm using Quick for xml loading and
generating - when feasible I just include these
sources in the distribution without mods), I don't
think it's unreasonable to want to keep ownership of
the project. I'll be happy to share ownership when
others start contributing.
