> The problem *is* soluble... *if* the project really cares. > Ok, so it's clear that some of us care.
We're not saying that users "have to" help with documentation, but we are asking for help from users. Projects that have great docs have a team of great people who help write documentation. Others are more interested in working software than documentation, and frankly I want them to stay involved and keep contributing good code. Creating too many restrictions will push them away. The answer is not more complaining, it's more hands on deck for writing docs. I think if you look back at the last month, we've made significant progress. And we can all admit that this progress has not always been this good. Everything is in place structurally for us to develop a great docs team, which was not the case for the first 8 months of the project. We now, for the first time in the life of the project have a good sized team of motivated individuals are focused on improving the docs. And with the current team we'll get there. But we will get there a lot sooner if more people chip in and help. I'll be running a Doc Sprint every couple of weeks for the next couple of months, and I'll keep spending my time on this. I've started the 1.1 documentation already, with Alberto's specifications, and I'll do my best to nudge, prod, and help 1.1 documentation to stay in step with the 1.1 code writing. If you want to get involved, the first thing to do is look at: http://docs.turbogears.org/DocTeam If you can draw diagrams, or convert files from wiki markup to REST, you can make a meaningful contribution. So, the only reason not to get involved is that you have other higher priority things to do. And if that's the case, please don't vent your frustration at other people who might also have other important things to do and spend less time on documentation that you would like. --Mark Ramm --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TurboGears" group.
