Thanks Sylvian,

I appriciate the feedback. My intention was to say, look we know
there's a problem. And some people are working very hard to fix it.

Steve and Iain have the right to their opinions. And we are all in
agreement over the basic point -- the online docs aren't good enough
yet. In particular we need help with the API docs which should be
automatically generated, but aren't yet due to troubles we've had with
PythonDoc and Epydoc.

I would like us to focus on the positive: We've had over 200
individual contributions to the online docs in the past month.
Things are getting better, and lots of people are working hard to
improve things. And I'm part of the problem more than part of the
solution, nearly all the current online documentation has been written
by other people, not me.

So, I'm not trying to defend myself, but I am reacting to some of the
negativity, because I think the Docs Team deserves positive credit for
the work they have put in over the last month.

My concern is that the negativity of some recent posts could
discourage the people like Karl, Chris, Fred, Adam and others, who've
generously donated their free time to making the Docs better.
Certainly we're not there yet, but for the first time in months we've
actually got a bunch of people working focused on making things
better.

And really, they are doing a great job. There's just more to do than
we can do right now, so I want to focus on attracting more people to
write docs, and on moving the Documentation forward.

So, if I've come across as defensive, or as pushing users to write
docs, I'm sorry. My intent was just to refocus off of defining the
problem in the strongest terms possible to actively working towards a
solution.
