I agree with this, and I'm not just viewing from an external POV.

As for people silently moving away, I'm quite sure that is happening.
I for one have moved away myself, albeit not quietly. What I found was
that the documentation I could find was more often than not out of
sync with the code (i.e. old/outdated). I choose TG initially because
I saw the option of using the ORM I wanted etc - but it turned out
that was not that easy, especially when I had to keep up with new
versions (or just stick to one version, hack that to pieces myself and
use it for all my projects).

Recently, I have dropped TG and moved to CherryPy 3 with some
extremely simple filters and I'm quite happy with that.
