My apologies are then due as well -- I didn't read the original post  
in that manner, but on a second reading, I can completely see how it  
would have come across that way and it appears that I let my own  
frustration with my perception of problems get in the way of seeing  
what was going on in the conversation I was joining... so, like I  
said, I apologize for my misreading and the results thereof.

Thank you for the thoughtful responses and the light they've shed on  
everything!
