hi all

As a newbie to TG one of the most confusing things is the whole thing about
widgets and JS libraries. The benefit of TG over plain CherryPy/Pylons/WSGI
is that one is guided towards a well-integrated full-stack framework without
being forced into these choices.

However, in the area mentioned above there seems to be quite some confusion.
The choices for TG widgets, ToscaWidgets and Mochikit seem very outdated and
none of these is well documented or actively developed. After some
experimenting and looking around for quite some time I stopped using widgets
altogether and now use jQuery (recommended by iain). This works well and
there is quite some active community behind it. In fact, it is simple to
integrate a library like jQuery with the rest of TG. Nonetheless, it would
be a good idea imho to recommend a library to be used with TG and provide
some useful quickstart templates in order to avoid the painful and
time-consuming evaluation for new-comers. jQuery seems like a good
candidate, but maybe dojo is a better choice if one wants to also include
Comet-style development. Who can make a reasonable choice here?

thanks and regards
andré
