Again, there is no need to explain why the Oscar ratings were down this year, since the Oscar ratings were actually up 10%. I think it is a little strong to say no comic book movie will ever win an Oscar. There was a time people would have said no gangster movie will ever win an Oscar, and a lot of people were surprised that LOR won. But it would have to be a hell of a good comic book movie. I would hate to see the convention wisdom become that the problem with the Oscars is that they don't nominate enough mass appeal films.
