This is from the latest edition of Steve Beverly's "Game Show Fix"
newsletter. CBS is deciding whether to pair "Deal" with "Pyramid" as a
daily replacement for "Guiding Light."

****WAYNE BRADY HOSTS PILOT OF LET’S MAKE A DEAL

>From flies on the wall who were inside CBS’s pilot for a revival of
Let’s Make a Deal last week, the taping “went very well.”

Wayne Brady, whose run on Don’t Forget the Lyrics! has just ended, was
the host and we were given two evaluations of his work.

>From one audience attendee: “He was no Monty Hall…..but no one will
ever be. But Wayne had a good connection with the contestants and he
really seemed to understand the game.”

>From a second: “Wayne will not take the show back down to the depths
it was in when Billy Bush did the NBC version. If this gets picked
up, he’ll do a good job.”

We were also told this version, a FremantleMedia production, is back
to the show’s roots as a family-friendly show, unlike the NBC prime
time edition earlier in the decade. That one lost a third of its
audience in the first 20 minutes after a way over-the-top adult-themed
opening deal.
