In an interview on the Craig Kilborn show, Osmond said that he
purposely avoided doing that postmortem because he felt it would make
the contestants feel worse about losing. Like you, I take the opposite
view. I think that part of what made Dick Clark such a good host was
that he was very supportive of the contestants. He was extremely
sympathetic when they lost, and after each Winners Circle loss he
analyzed the game and gave tips on how to win the next time around.
Osmond did little more than smile and say, well, you won $200, better
luck next time.
