There may not be a big buyout for Conan if Letterman becomes the top guy in late night. And he would leave NBC as damaged goods - the guy who took the #1 show in late night and dropped it to third place. "Nightline" for the last few weeks (granted news busy weeks with the Michael Jackson story) has been outperforming both "Late Show" and "The Tonight Show" among all viewers. Conan's lead in adults 18-49 is down to +0.2 with CBS airing reruns of their crime dramas at 10PM and ABC showing a mix of reruns and reality/news magazines. Can he maintain that lead when Leno premieres with his talk show and CBS and ABC have first run programs? Regarding talk shows, NBC is screwed if they don't keep to their > current schedule. They need Leno to work at 10PM and feed viewers to Conan after late local news. TVG --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
