I honestly haven't made up my mind, but the reason I think I'm leaning
the direction of not liking it is because throwing a politician into
an anchor chair seems like a bad idea. Yes, Dean can speak about
health care, but there should be somebody, even a biased somebody like
Keith, directing the interview, otherwise it is an infomercial for a
certain political perspective. I mean, if Sarah Palin or John McCain
filled in for Hannity and said whatever she or he wanted to say for an
hour (note that aside from counting down five stories, none of
Countdown's regular features existed last night), Democrats would crap
their pants (though comedians would love it). I don't know. In the
end, Countdown isn't really a news show, so it shouldn't matter, but I
still see a distinction between host and guest, and this could just be
another blurring of the journalistic lines. Or it may be a rare and
fortuitous instance of getting it from the horse's mouth. Like I said,
I'm still on the fence.
