Let me preface this by saying I'm a great admirer of Dean's and
supported his presidential run, but he's -terrible- in this role. He's
always had a deer in the headlights look on television, his delivery
is stilted, and when he flashes that weird grin of his going into
commercial, he's downright creepy.
Last night, they had a low-angle shot of him sitting behind the desk
with both hands flat on the tabletop. He looked like an eight-year-old
who'd wandered onto the set during a camera test.
And I agree that having a major political figure host any kind of
opinion show is a bad idea. The health care hour -- which was
remarkable in that it was totally devoted to a serious discussion of
the topic was a -possible- exception, since he's an expert there --
but last night was just awful.
