Just this summer, the female lead on "Defying Gravity" is shown
agonizing, in a future where abortion is unlawful, over whether to
terminate her unplanned pregnancy or remain in the astronaut corps.
She ultimately takes the pill and ends the pregnancy. Indeed, this is
a significant plot point that is referred to, sometimes indirectly,
throughout the (too short) run of the series.
