For what it's worth, I was thinking the transition was passive-aggressive on both sides. But I fell off the 30 Rock bandwagon a while ago, after I was able to correctly predict the outcome of a Liz Lemon failed romantic plot at least one act in advance. I'm not saying it's not funny, or not good. It simply stopped working for me. If I could just watch Jack and Kenneth, I'd probably still follow the show (much like if I could just watch Stewie and Brian I'd think Family Guy was a coherent attempt at television rather than a random string of gags).
My take was that the 30 Rock folks were continuing the almost unspoken resentment they've shown, not necessarily at flyover America, but at NBC for doing the 10 p.m. experiment. Leno's non-plussed reaction seemed intended to take the piss out of the jab. Clueless/oblivious seems to be a preferred defense mechanism. Have any 30 Rock cast been on Jay's show? Will they? (SNIP) Not having watched Leno on Thursday, I did not know what David was referring to above. After puzzling it through for a few minutes, I realized that 30 Rock ran over, and there must have been more material at the start of the Leno. Checking my TiVo, I saw that Thursday was one of the nights that I still tape (though for the last 2 weeks, never watch) Leno, so I went back and watched the first 5 minutes. It was oddly passive-aggressive, if by that David means that it seems to be a less than affectionate mooning of Leno, but it was also (at least to me) hilarious. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
