I don't disagree with most of this, I wouldn't waste too much energy
defending Larry King, who is a joke.

But I do think that in this case King was set off by her response that
he was being inappropriate. He seemed just not to be able to get his
head around that reaction. I think if she had just kept repeating "I
can't talk about that" in some variation he would have moved on more
quickly, but her use of the word inappropriate, and the tone of voice
that seemed to suggest the old guy had dropped his pants and was
trying to fondle her breasts, was just too much for him to take.
"Inappropriate" in this context has the connotation that King is a
dirty old man because he wants her to talk about her masturbating
tape.

The funniest part of the bit, which gives a glimpse into how pissed
off he is, is when he does finally move on and go to the phones he
says "inappropriate King Live continues" - almost doing an homage to
your friend and mine Kevin Pollak. If only he had gone with something
like "I once made a masturbation tape while interviewing Angie
Dickenson and Burt Reynolds. Calistoga California - Your ON!".

The explanation for all of this may well just be a legitimate
misunderstanding - she thought he had agreed not to ask any
embarrassing questions or go to the phones, he assumes the only reason
there would be any reason to have her on is to ask embarrassing
questions and go to the phones. She is getting pissed at him for doing
what she thought he had promised not to do (and thus being
"inappropriate") while he thinks she is not just being evasive, but
absurd in a) not being able to explain her motivation for settling (as
opposed to the details of the settlement) and b) accusing him of doing
something inappropriate when all he was doing was asking obvious
questions.

One of the things this shows once again is that this young lady is
getting horrible advice (that they let her sue when there was this
masturbatory tape out there is malpractice). Some conservatives are
pretty savvy at playing the media, but this one has a real tin ear. A
little bit of preparation would have given her a much easier way to
deflect the question as to why she settled (perhaps something like: "I
just wanted to put this whole thing behind me and move on. Now I have
an opportunity to talk about the issues I believe in and care
passionately about, and I wanted to move on to these more productive
things and get away from the negativity and the hate. But of course
that liberal media just keeps going back again and again to the
negative. Lets move on to something positive Larry, can't we?).
