The affiliates were threatening to pre-empt Leno. "Fixing" the JLP not an option because Leno was doing the show he was comfortable doing. In an apparent response to CBS yesterday, Jeff Gasping (NBC Universal TV Entertainment chairman) said that both CBS and ABC were down .1 rating point at 10:00 "So tell me there's not a problem at 10 o'clock in broadcasting" (of course, with Leno, NBC was down 900% more than CBS and ABC). NBC is estimating the end of the Leno Experiment will result in 2 more hours of scripted TV on their air, plus 1 more hour of Reality TV, plus "backfill" (Dateline+repeats). From their talk of their pilots though it looks like there will be even more scripted shows on at that hour next Fall. Possible 10:00 replacements for this Spring: Criminal Intent, Friday Night Lights, Rex is Not Your Lawyer. They are thinking of a L&O set in Los Angeles (they call it "LOLA"). ""Prime Suspect" pilot is a go. So is a Bruckheimer pilot called "Chase" and a David E. Kelley drama called "Kindreds," David Shore's "Rockford Files" remake, a romantic comedy called "Love Bites" and a thriller called "The Event.""
