Arguably Fox has been supporting Fringe, as much as Fox supports anything that 
isn't a reality program.  I'll defer to others about the idea that Fringe is a 
retread of X-Files, with a few more science fiction tropes thrown in (alternate 
universes among them).

And yes, Futurama counts.

I'm honestly not sure why FOX even bothers with sci-fi anymore.  They
haven't shown any interest in growing a sci-fi show since The X-
Files.  Firefly, Dollhouse, T:TSCC, Futurama (yes, it counts...), that
Ron Moore pilot that they burned off over 4th of July weekend - none
were really given a shot to find an audience.  (Here's a hint -
Fridays = BAD!)
