Just watched Wednesday's show over lunch. The thought occurred that the next talk show trope he should violate is the "one guest at a time" one. Granted, it might require a careful choice of guests -- I don't think Wanda Sykes and Anna Torv would have made for a great pairing. But still worth considering, I feel.
