The fault seems to be with the Y then for not making it clear what this night was to be about. For $50, I don't think as many people would want to hear what Martin thinks about art. They were interested in his career as a whole.
I think the Y should have asked Solomon what they were after and then advertised it as such. The Y, though, should not be criticized for offering a refund. It acknowledges their failing. Neither Martin nor Solomon seem to have done anything wrong.
