I don't comprehend how doing so would lead to refunds on tickets. Worst case scenario based on that blog: the 92nd Y apologizes to Martin if the interviewer's questions spoiled the book for those in attendance. The reason people are taken aback by the refunds is because it more than suggests that Steve Martin didn't fulfill his obligation -- to sit in a room and answer questions. That the questions were bad or the interviewer stunk may have been the primary (or even the only) factor in deciding to issue refunds (or, to be specific, vouchers for a future event), but doing so reflects very poorly on Steve Martin, which is why I think he is (humorously) defensive about it on Twitter. -- Kevin M.
