Congratulations. Calling it a dream job is a bit presumptuous, but it does
seem
to be close to dead center of your wheelhouse.

Best,
David

Mr. Kotter I am not, but I will have some sweathogs to call my very own.

The short version is there is a school in the heart of Hollywood that
specializes in educating students for careers in the industry we call
show. They've been around more than a decade, have decent funding, a
brand new computer lab, and apx. 200 new students starting on the 31st
of January. I'm supposed to teach the basic apps like the Office
suite, but they want it both fun and practical, and I have a
preexisting syllabus that can be modified for all ages ranges and
skill levels. They'll also be getting a lot of inner-city folks and
other people for whom proper English and grammar has not been a
necessity. But the school has a goal of job placement of 70% of its
students in careers in the industry, so along with technology, I'll be
squeezing in some grammar, too. I may also squeeze in a few media
ethics debates, just to spice things up.

I stated I would not return to Hollywood unless it was on my terms --
unless I could see evidence of more honor in the profession. This job
allows me to try to infuse some of that into industry newcomers -- to
get to them before they get caught up in the industry BS.

The pay is good, the hours are right up my alley (noon to 8pm -- NO
MORNING CLASSES!), and I'll be able to drink Vitamin Water again. I
expect to be on a plane sometime next weekend. As always, I expect a
shoe to drop at any moment, but for now I am celebrating.
