I'm definitely not a professional critic, nor a professional writer,
but my opinions on Alphas & Misfits follow...

I've only seen the pilot of Alphas so far, it seemed ok. It was good
enough for me to see how it develops which, now days, seems like all
most pilots are able to do.

I've watched the first five episodes of Misfits; I would say the pilot
was not the best episode of the bunch I've watched, I would give that
honor to Episode 5. To me, Misfits feels a lot like UK Skins with
superpowers. Instead of a school, they are in a court mandated work
detail. It is also not as racy as UK Skins, but does have some of
that. The relationships and psychology of the characters are the
focus, much like UK Skins, rather than the powers themselves.

Both Alphas & Misfits represent to me, so far, as what Heroes could've
been. I hope neither falls into what Heroes became.
