Benedict Cumberbatch is his name, and was recently linked to being cast in the
next Star Trek film (deal may have been finalized this weekend for all I
know).  He'll also be heard in the Hobbitt, so the cross-promotion with
Sherlock continues (Martin Freeman being young Bilbo and Spock quoted Holmes in
Star Trek VI).

Finally got to see this yesterday, and yes, I did love it, pretty much agreeing
with Adam and Michael in this thread on all counts. I have not seen all of the
Oscar-bait yet, but Oldman is my favorite for best actor this year (though Alec
will always be the real Smiley for me). I did see it with my 21 year old
daughter, who lives good films but did not read the books or see the earlier
mini-series. Talking with her after I can see why Kevin and others might feel
like there was problem with character development - she had trouble really
telling the 5 main possibles apart, and understanding what their unique
qualities and relationships were, something that is obviously more clear in the
novel and mini-series. My daughter does love the actor who plays Sherlock (with
the adorable name I can't think of now) so she was happy enough to see the film.

The mini-series is available at Netflix, but not to streamers.
