Well, I'm used to the extras-free rental discs.  This apparently is just the 
first time I've rented an animated film since that became the norm.  Guess I'll 
wait for Pixar's second volume of shorts to be released.

Not just animated features. I've experienced many extras-free DVDs
(from Netflix). Several studios are requiring this for the rental
market.

The short may have been in the theater, but it's still not part of the movie.
