I think this is less them thinking it was a separate product than them looking to protect the home video business from being eroded by rental and streaming. Disney, WB and Universal has been giving frill-less DVDs for years to Netflix and Redbox. Netflix used to have the extras as a separate rental for a lot of films, as well. -- TV or Not TV ....
