I thought the problem with the volume came when Maher moved the
microphone away from his mouth. Maybe the sound engineer needed to
compensate and didn't. I also thought there was a better way of
capturing Maher in a way that acknowledged the large stage and still
kept it intimate. Longer shots put in too much distance.

I give Maher and Yahoo credit for putting it together. I don't
understand the value of an exclusive live stream. Except for a couple
of references to Wednesday's GOP debate, the topical material went way
back and if Yahoo recorded the performance and offered it for on
demand viewing nothing would be lost. I was disappointed by Maher's
material. This is certainly a strange primary season, but Maher's
jokes seemed like straight commentary without real punch lines. In the
second half hour when he turned from politics to to some pop culture
it got a little better until he got fixated on religion.
