I don't subscribe to HBO and only really became aware of Real Time
when iTunes offered it as an audio podcast years ago. After iTunes put
up a video podcast for a week or two, I preferred it and started
downloading episodes and later found a site that streamed a bootleg
feed. All that was during the Bush administration. A short time after
Obama was inaugurated I found I had lost interest in the show and
stopped keeping up. Since then the only thing I watch is when someone
links to a YouTube video, usually from New Rules, and I think that's
the best that Maher does. And I guess that's what I was hoping for in
the Yahoo set - less preaching about politics and more irreverence and
a wicked attack on the foolishness of our pop culture obsessions.
