Interestingly, according to Reuters it's not really about money. It's because of DISH's ad skipping feature that seems to have scared all the entertainment companies. Though to be fair, skipping ads would hurt Gannett and the station owners not backed by entertainment conglomerates far more than the News Corps. or the Disneys. They can far easier place product and ads into the shows themselves. (And the networks are switching to a model where the stations pay them in order to stay affiliated.) The local stations only have the news to sell out. Of course, the very first paragraph of the story states Gannett will gladly take money in lieu of killing HOPPER. Of course, if the dispute is over HOPPER, it is disingenuous for Gannett to argue the things it does on the individual station webpages, but of course all is fair in war and public relations. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/05/us-dish-gannett-idUSBRE89403I20121005 -- Wesley McGee http://www.ambivi.com http://sterlingnorth.vox.com http://drawing-a-blank.tumblr.com Twitter: @westwit G+: http://plus.google.com/113413697748381364954 Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/wesleymcgee -- TV or Not TV ....
