Pretty much. I was in and out of it, but it seemed like Jenny McCarthy got a lot more screen time than Dick did. I did like the non-music clip reels - for instance, there was footage of him in the movie "Because They're Young" (and his screen test), as well as a great blooper of his wig sliding off during a "Sonny and Cher" skit. And there was a 1978 clip of Milton Berle giving Dick a pie in the face (I'm guessing that was from "Dick Clark's Live Wednesday"). But if you're going to pay tribute to Dick Clark and/or the artists he introduced, then you've gotta show them. Everything is so fast-paced today that the clips (even the movie clips I mentioned) were rarely longer than 15 seconds. I turned back on just as it was turning midnight. One thing I immediately noticed: when Dick did the show, he would provide an ad lib stream of commentary right after the ball dropped. Seacrest just shut up and hugged the musical guests, while the camera continued to pan Times Square. I preferred it the old way - Seacrest's way gave the impression that nothing was going on, and if nothing is going on, why watch in the first place? I flipped over to a Charlie Rose special with Oskar Eustis talking about Shakespeare. -Tim -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
