I'll just point out that while I only watched about 30min of DCNYREFRS (effectively, 11:50-12:20 EST), I found that Seacrest, while still a massive tool, was relatively inoffensive. Jenny McCarthy, by contrast, made out with sailor with an enormous cold-sore on his lip (which may or may not have been there BEFORE the kiss), and then proceeded to dry-hump a cardboard cutout of Justin Bieber left in the street near one of the pens.
Here's something teenage me would never believe I'd say: Jenny McCarthy should not be allowed on television. I also had a chance to review the CNN coverage (mainly because one of my girlfriend's favorite bands - Bonerama - was playing the New Orleans stage in the runup to midnight CST, and we wanted to see if they'd get some camera time - they did), and was amused at Kathy Griffin's 'fuck it, I'm gonna say what I want' shtick for a few minutes. I think 3:30 of it would get old. That said, I had to laugh at how she effectively humored Psy and MC Hammer, then questioned whether that was actually Hammer or if she made a huge racial stereotyping error. Two big issues with CNN's coverage: musical acts were relegated to the background (if shown at all), and their live shot from Nashville looked like it was being done from an iPad.
