I know mine this morning was full of people who did not merely opine that McFarland was not their cup of tea, but felt he had disgraced an American institution. I took Dave's point not to be that there is no point in discussing or even dissecting the quality of the show, but that there is no point in taking it so seriously. I think the assumption that television in particular and pop culture in general can be usefully and entertainingly dissected is part of the raison d'ĂȘtre for this list, but so too is the assumption that it is best not to take such things too seriously. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
