For less than $100 you can get a pretty good new VCR and a 4 pack of tapes (make that less than $75 if you can do with a used one). That would allow any under 35er to tape shows that they must see within a week of broadcast, but can not see when actually broadcast. That would pay for itself after viewing about 35 to 50 programs.
For those too young to remember, VCRs can be programmed to automatically record shows 2 to 4 weeks in advance, and this would not require subscription to a cable service. I understand why someone who has grown accustomed to watching programs for free online a day or two after broadcast would be bummed by ABC's decision. I am almost always pissed when a company raises the price on a product or service I enjoy, but would no longer be able to afford at the higher price. If enough people are similarly situated then one can hope the company will eventually reverse its decision if it starts to lose money or alienate customers. I just don't agree that it is immoral for companies to do this, at least when talking about non-essential goods and services, nor do I think it makes the company responsible for people who decide to steal their products rather than buy them.
