Your math is off slightly. Three hosts of "Tonight" since Carson, but only two (plus Dave) have "Late Night" on their resume. Leno never had his own TV gig - his claim to Johnny's throne was his position as the final (permanent) substitute host. Dave, Conan and Jimmy all carried a show for years, where Jay worked a week at a time between Doritos ads.
